Taurus Millennium G2 9mm Compact Pistol
The Taurus Millennium G2 9mm pistol was a favorite of budget-minded shooters back around 2015. Holding 12 rounds of 9mm Parabellum in a semi-compact, lightweight polymer frame and well under $300, it’s easy to understand why it became so popular. Although Taurus has what I would refer to as a “mediocre” reputation, I’ve had great performance out of the G2. I even picked one up for $199 at Palmetto State Armory back in the day.
In another publication I used to write, I started a 2,000-round “torture test”. The goal was to shoot 2,000 rounds without cleaning and see how it performed.
Why?
Well, I have owned and shot a few different models of Taurus firearms with favorable results. However, there are many out there in the interweb that truly enjoy making fun of Taurus and even ranking the brand below Hi-Point. From what I gather, they may have experienced a decline in quality over a few years, and I seriously question the logic behind a few of their models that are no longer made. Again, I have had great performance out of all Taurus pistols I have owned.
Ok. Moving on. I ended up running a bit more than 1,500 rounds through the G2 before calling it good. I had zero malfunctions. No maintenance was performed OTHER THAN lubrication. I never took it apart - simply a drop of oil here and a drop there. I stopped the article series at 1,500 as the level of ridicule became ridiculous, and I saw no point in going on.
I’m sharing all of this to simply pass the information on and to say, I still have that Taurus G2 - and it still has never failed.
A couple of things I love about the Taurus beyond the reliability it has provided:
Fantastic trigger - light and even has double strike capability
Very nice and secure texture on the grip
12-rounds in a compact package
A defensive firearm does not have to cost an arm and a leg. The newer G3C is basically the same firearm with a few minor changes.
As of this publication, the Taurus G3C can be picked up for around $250. 🔗 LINK

The wife and I have the Taurus G3C and while we haven't put your round count through either one of ours, we still haven't experienced any FTF or FTE or any other malfunctions. We also have the big brother which is the Taurus G3 and so far no issues at all with that one either.
Years ago I worked part time in a gun store, a customer brought in their copy of the Beretta 92, it had had a broken firing pin, we kept being sent the wrong one by Taurus at least three times.
