For years, at Christmas time I took the xtra money saved during the year and went to our local and exchanged the old bills for new. They make a much smaller stack because they are un wrinkled. They lay flat. This pile grew over the years.

Way back I went to the Army, Navy, Surplus Store and bought a used rocket tube. About 12 in. inn diameter. 50 some inches long. Had a screw on lid. It was a very strong yet durable black plastic. Perfect for burying in the ground. In it went lots of vitals. Copies of all important papers. What ever you can think of. PROOF. In an emergency you need proof. I worked for years for FEMA. As an inspector we needed proof someone lived where they said they did. Sometimes their home was completely destroyed, gone, nothing. So I always recommended keeping a piece of mail with your current address on it. And a copy of all official papers. You burry them in the ground in a known location, don’t forget it, and you can yearly or so add to it.

Things I added over the years was, xtra gun, ammo, liquors, for trading and smokes. I don’t smoke or drink but it’s great for an emergency trade. Also keep a spare pair of walking shoes in your car. My wife wore high heels to work and in an emergency if roads were closed she could leave the car and walk.

I have more. Maybe I’ll add again.
