Very true, my sister had a cross fire by Chrysler, built by Karmen,( Mercedes) and she getting code massages and the car ran crappie, Chrysler dealer had no one who could work on it and Mercedes would work and local mechanic she had no idea what was wrong. She was up in MA and I'm here in FL, many hours of searching found the cam shaft positioned was the culprit, found one on Amazon and she ordered it, the mechanic put it in and the can was fixed for about $150.00, dealer cost if they could have figured it out????? Though this didn't help me fix my John Deere mower with a B&S Itek engine,.after much searching and pulling the engine down after only129 hours, I found one of the alternator magnets had broken and shorted out the voltage regulator, plus the back fire valve on the carb would stop working after it heated up. The engineers decided they didn't need a heat shield between the carb and muffler, about4 inches apart.
Yes it was. About $200 in new parts.and having sit dismantled for 6 weeks, I ordered a used Bisque beta old style heat shield and made a mount for it. Oh, the engine also doesn't have a low oil pressure switch either😡
What moron engineer-publicist came up with that feature. I'm just a dumb farm kid from Minnesota and NO ONE will convince me that feature saves fuel. Just more complexity and things to go wrong.
I have two BMW s, with what I call that feature... "The Yuppy Pacifier." Where the engine shuts of when you are at a stop light. Feel good bullshytte. Feel good for crusading idiots that can't tie their shoes.
Truly the best way to be prepared is get rid of the newer POS and go old school with something you can work on. How well will I tube work during SHIFT? Old school and a supply of NOS for the basics and good tools.
I really do hate these modern vehicles of today. I want every computer ripped out and all of these darn sensors ripped out. Please take no offense, but the people of today have become far too lazy and lack the common sense and logic that God gave them as its been pounded out of their skulls by their families and government.
My better half drives a 2017 Mazda CX-5 Touring and that has been a vehicle with ghosts since day one. The infotainment screen/unit will do whatever it is it wants to do just as if a ghost is touching all of the controls and the check engine light keeps coming on and off and when the code is read its a P0301 code every time which is Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected. The vehicle only has 58,000 miles on it. But the car runs just fine without spitting and sputtering like I do with it.
