Diesel will last longer and if its a older diesel powered one with out all.the susceptible electronics and used sparingly the have an advantage on their side. Setting up community defence against outsiders is a must to survival.
Excellent points John. In these scenarios, I often wonder how they will come together for the community defense you mentioned. It will take the right leader or leaders to stand up to get the majority to coordinate and follow. The division is so extreme today.
Even during the Revolutionary War the militia groups would have discussions on what to do before they acted and not everyone was of the same mind, but it seems they usually made good decisions, today with the decisiveness I not sure we can make the needed decisions in a timely manner
